Objective:
This project took a systematic and methodical approach to determine what practical measures may be applied to offer effective noise reduction in the use of portable ventilation blowers (PVB). A variety of selected noise control treatments on the primary PVB model used at each participating shipyard were prepared and follow up testing was conducted to measure the effective noise reduction from these treatments. Noise emissions were measured pre- and post- noise control treatment and results were quantified. Preliminary results showed a 2dB reduction, which represents a 33% decrease in sound energy with some noise control treatments used.
