Objective:

This panel project continued ASTM F1387 qualification testing of the Viega MegaPress fitting. Evaluated a Lead Free fitting for possible use in Potable Water Systems. Investigated ASTM F1387 testing requirements.

Goals / Objectives:

  1. Shock test the Viega ProPress fitting to determine if this is a suitable lead free fitting for Potable Water Systems in combatant ships.
  2. Attempt to find upper limit of size for Viega MegaPress Copper Nickel fittings that can pass the Shock Test.
  3. Implement, as much as funding will allow, ASTM F1387 Vibration test, Fire Test, Impulse Test, Flexure Fatigue Test and Tensile Test on Viega MegaPress Copper Nickel fittings.
  4. Evaluate the Tensile Test requirements with regard to whether the fittings replaced by the MAFs can pass the test.
