Objective:
The primary objective of this project was to determine the appropriate 3-D modeling format for delivering Government Furnished Information (GFI) from suppliers to shipyards. GFI is currently delivered via Installation Control Drawings (ICD’s) in 2-D format (paper drawings). Delivering GFI as a 3-D model will reduce shipyard and supplier costs because shipyards will not have to recreate a 3-D model from 2-D ICD’s, and suppliers will not have to develop 2-D drawings from their existing 3-D models.
