2013
NSRP ASE Investment: $145K
Objective:
This project provided documentation validating the use of Flexible Infrastructure (FI) and interface adapters and developed a Standard Guidance Drawing which when used could optimize equipment and furniture attachment to Flexible Infrastructure decks. The analysis indicated that for 83% of installs and removals, the use of interface adapters was a more economical solution over foundation mounting in labor cost. Likewise, a 47% savings could be realized by the shipbuilder and U.S. Navy when implementing the use of Flexible Infrastructure interface adapters over traditional foundations. The FI Deck Track system and the use of FI Interface Adapters address the Navy’s design requirement to make compartments more easily reconfigurable greatly reducing costs and schedule impacts.
