Objective:
The goal of this project was to provide initial recommendations on reducing the total ownership cost of ships through a reduction in connector variance in ship design, modernization, and repairs. This effort involved engaging NAVSEA, original equipment manufacturers, shipyards, and vendors to develop and document the methodology of connector selection. The project lead worked with team members to determine and define the process of selecting connectors and recommend improvements. The methodology resulting from this effort addressed “root cause” of connector variation and ways to achieve connector commonality.
