Objective:

This project is an extension of the earlier “Laser Scan to CAD Analysis” project that developed capabilities to capture and maintain the current ship configuration via laser scan overlay on the 3D Product Model.  This project will enable capturing areas hidden from direct line of sight, and will improve on the length of time and configuration management effort necessary for the laser scan file registration process.

Summary:

The project will first focus on documenting hull planning yard and ship’s force use cases and requirements for capturing In-service ship configuration. This includes exposing overlay of data on the 3D product model and label plate recognition.

The project will then execute and evaluate a pilot project with ongoing software refinement, with the resulting product able to be used to evaluate deployment feasibility.  An implementation strategy for Ford-class aircraft carriers and other Navy utilization will be developed

Key Deliverables / Benefits:

  • Use cases, requirements and environment stand-up
  • Pilot project execution and evaluation
  • Reduced time to develop in-service ship information
  • Reduced time to validate compartment components
  • Reduced time to collect data and develop maintenance plans
  • Reduction in data recreation
