Design-Analysis Data Management Capabilities for Composite Materials Used in Ships

  • Design-Analysis Data Management Capabilities for Composite Materials Used in Ships
Overview

Design-Analysis Data Management Capabilities for Composite Materials Used in Ships (2008-329)

Project Team:

  • General Dynamics Electric Boat
  • Lockheed Martin Aeronautics
  • Altair Engineering

2007

NSRP ASE Investment: $100K

Objective:

This goal of this project is to exploit the expanded material representation for composite material design and analysis applications within the ISO STEP 10303-209 (AP209) in an open PLM/CAD/CAE environment. This effort will focus primarily on the CAE analysis aspects including geometry, material property and finite element analysis (FEA) model exchange among various tools including those used for optimization of composite structures. The project developed prototypes and demonstrated improved exchange and interoperability of ship composite structure data.

Key Deliverables:

Request Final Report from NSRP – Limited Distribution authorized to U.S. shipyards and NSRP ASE Program representatives

National Shipbuilding Research Program: Taking shipbuilding and repair to the next level NSRP is co-funded by the U.S. Shipbuilding Industry and U.S. Navy
