Objective:
The goal of this project is to produce results that validate the ASTM F132-21 updates indicating that digital measurement devices are a suitable replacement for pendulums in an Incline Experiment.
Summary:
The project will utilize currently planned Incline Experiments to test different methods of data collection and compare the accuracy and efficiency of these different types of equipment. The data collection methods to be evaluated are a digital inclinometer, an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) sensor, and a smartphone in combination with the SCRAMP app.
Key Deliverables / Benefits:
There are many methods now available for precise location definition, which have the potential to be far more accurate and require significantly less set up and space than a pendulum.
