Objective:
The objective of this project was to develop and evaluate welding process parameters for welding, in tandem, double sided fillet welds over weldable primer in panel lines with twin electrode torches. The motivation for this effort was to reduce heat input, distortion and improve productivity in panel line production for lightweight structure fabrication in shipbuilding. The final report contains data and experience sufficient to provide guidance to a shipyard considering implementing this configuration in production.
