Objective:
The purpose of this project is to develop an artificial intelligence (AI)/machine learning (ML)- enabled fire watch system designed to support hot work in shipyard environments.
Summary:
The Integrated Monitoring System Advisor and Functional Expert (I.M.SAFE) Fire Watch Support System will link streaming standard and infrared videos, along with measured temperature data with advanced analytics, including statistical, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Machine Learning (ML) algorithms to classify flaming fires from typical nuisance false alarm sources. I.M.SAFE will also monitor for thermal anomalies that can be indicators of smoldering fires and/or potential fire ignition sources. I.M.SAFE – Fire Watch Support System will be a manned portable system that can be readily carried and set up by a single individual. The baseline system will allow a single fire watch operator to monitor up to four different locations from a work station.
Key Deliverables / Benefits:
The project results will:
- reduce health and safety risks;
- reduce costs;
- improve operational efficiency; and
- improve fire safety
