Objective:

This project’s overall goal is to increase the efficiency and further improve usability of the LiftShip 2 [218-451] RA project.  This project will provide the user increases in technical functionality of data from the 3D model and provide additional seamless digital data transfer to and from the 3D model as well as to and from the Finite Element Analysis software. This project will provide a means to transfer changes made by the analyst within the Finite Element Model (FEM) in a graphical representation to the 3D design model.

Summary:

The project scope will include the following:

  • Phase 1

o Develop the requirements for specific use cases

o Establish a foundational approach for V&V on such applications as well as methods, procedures, and tools most appropriate for various types of applications

  • Phase 2

o Release beta software for shipyards to install, train, test, and evaluate

o Test the latest software on current shipyard projects providing results and user feedback to the project team

Key Deliverables / Benefits:

  • LiftShip 3 proposes to enhance the already successful LiftShip 2 project by providing more pertinent data between FEA tools and the 3D design model
  • ABS webinar for Government and Industry on the ABS guidance publication
  • Final report documenting the research process and the demonstrations of the recommended V&V approach/criteria on real Digital Twin technology
