Objective:
This project was aimed at quantifying the electricity savings potential of modern stud welding power source technology in ship construction. The energy cost savings from the use of inverter power supply technology for both drawn arc stud welding and capacitor discharge stud welding were demonstrated and quantified. The project also evaluated the advantages of motorized gun technology to eliminate errors in welding gun setup. The project demonstrated that modern stud welding technology cuts electricity, creates a safer workplace, boosts productivity, and leaves a greener planet to future generations of shipbuilders.
