Objective:
The project objective is to demonstrate the technical feasibility of an active UMI system with a 20-foot range capable of locating corrosion and plate thinning under coatings and coverings in Navy ship metallic structures with penetrations with a high impact on reducing Naval shipyard NDT&E costs.
Summary:
Antech Systems proposes to perform a one-year Panel project to define, develop, and demonstrate the technical feasibility of a concept for a portable, robust, efficient, and effective active Ultrasonic Mode Imaging (UMI) system that can be used to perform Nondestructive Test and Evaluation (NDT&E) of metallic structures onboard Navy ships with penetrations to identify areas of corrosion and plate thinning under coatings and coverings as are routinely conducted in accordance with Planned Maintenance and “Corrosion Control Assessment and Maintenance Manual” (CCAMM) inspections.
Key Deliverables / Benefits:
This project will deliver a final webinar or demo along with a final report with recommendations.
