Objective:
This project will seek to establish streaming telemetry on shipyard cranes with the broad aim of tracking utilization and assembly flow, thereby bolstering operational intelligence.
One envisioned result of the project is a repository of crane lift data recorded at the shipyard throughout the project. As a starting point this will consist of a database with entries specifying the load weight, time, lift and laydown locations, and crane identity. On the hardware side, the main objective is the design and prototyping of a crane telemetry system that is adaptable to other shipyards’ assets.
The intent behind the lift data collection is to improve understanding of assembly throughput in the yard. Pain points in the various stages of construction can be revealed. This project will establish a platform from which numerous utilizations of crane lift data can be explored.
