Objective:

This project established software requirements and a design frame-work for a new client application, Atlas, intended to support the process of performing and documenting calculations required by the Classification process (e.g., Naval Vessel Rules, High Speed Naval Craft, Steel Vessel Rules, etc.). The proof-of-concept developed demonstrates the feasibility and value of the tool and also allows for multiple rule sets to be implemented, while reusing common components between the different sets. By having the designers, shipyards and classification societies using a single tool, duplicative effort can be eliminated, saving both time and money.
