Objective:
The overall objective of the AI Island initiative is to deploy a standalone AI system, aiming to enhance data analysis, and provide actionable insights in a shipbuilding environment.
Summary:
Today’s shipyards face persistent challenges with inefficient data collection, fragmented reporting processes, and inconsistent analysis across departments. These issues cause delays, increase rework, and compromise data integrity during critical phases like drawing reviews, discrepancy resolution, and regulatory reporting. These inefficiencies are often worsened by outdated digital infrastructure and siloed systems that hinder collaboration and visibility.
To address these challenges, the AI Island initiative proposes the development of a standalone, autonomous AI system embedded within the shipyard’s digital ecosystem. This AI Island will accelerate problem resolution, decision-making, and organizational learning by delivering real-time insights from complex data ingestion; without disrupting day-to-day workflows or requiring massive infrastructure overhauls.
The AI Island is intended to be an independent application that integrates into a shipyard network without disrupting existing operations, making it ideal for environments with aging infrastructure. Its isolation supports cybersecurity while enabling faster deployment. By operating separately from core systems, it delivers real-time insights and accelerates decision-making without adding strain to current tools.
Key Deliverables / Benefits:
The AI Island will reduce costs and save time across shipbuilding and repair operations by accelerating problem resolution, decision-making, and organizational learning. Accuracy and consistency will also improve. Deliverables include:
- Step-by-step implementation guides for setting up AI Islands within shipyard workflows.
- Documentation addressing common setup pain points and solutions tailored to shipyard environments.
- Comparative analysis of AI-assisted vs. human-led analysis, including metrics on accuracy, time savings, and reduction in manual effort.
- Recommendations for scalable deployment across multiple shipyard sites, based on pilot results.
