2019

NSRP ASE Investment: $150K

Objective:

The effort identified areas where the cable designs used on U.S. naval vessels can be enhanced to reduce the cost of ships’ construction, modernization, and maintenance, improve installation practices, and facilitate the implementation of new technologies such as fiber optic lighting, remote fiber optic sensing, power over fiber, Li-Fi, and other applications requiring highly reliable fiber optic cables. The effort also evaluated the tests the cables that they are subjected to in order to qualify for shipboard use and determine if they are adequate to reflect the conditions encountered at installation and use.
