Objective:
The primary goal of the project was to provide updated research on required flow rates and ventilation arrangements to support evaporation rates of typical solvents used in modern marine coating applications. The secondary goal was to adapt CONTAM, an open source multi-zone airflow analysis software used for building ventilation, for use in optimizing tank ventilation. The tool was developed for use by waterfront engineers with no prior experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
