Objective:

The primary objective of this project was to promote material commonality by reducing unnecessary variation in manufacturer drawing qualification requirements and lay the groundwork to support future sharing of manufacturer drawing qualification approvals. This pilot project supported an initiative that was identified as one of the NSRP Commonality Working Group’s top 5 barriers to commonality – Establishing More Uniform Part Design Approval and Manufacturer Qualification Requirements across Shipyards (e.g. tech manuals, shock, vibration, electro-magnetic interference, non-destructive test procedures, welding procedures, first article, etc.).
