Objective:
The goal of this project was to save the US Navy and the shipbuilding industry money by reducing the time required to transfer mass properties and other information from a detail design system to a weight engineering program. An interface strategy, beginning with a data exchange map, was developed based on the information determined by the shipyards and software developers to improve the transfer of data from a detail design system to a weight engineering program based on the captured “To‐Be” business process state.
