Objective:
In support of the Navy’s and industry’s ongoing interest in product model data interoperability, this project examined the use of the Ship Common Information Model (SCIM) developed in conjunction with the Navy Product Data Initiative – an enterprise approach to defining a set of high level requirements that will enhance both the configuration management and interoperability of ship product model data. This project investigated an approach to utilize SCIM XML and AP214 geometric data during the interim period before SCIM-based translators for the shipbuilding application protocols become commercially available.
