Objective:
The purpose of this project was to continue to break down the barriers to facilitate adoption of cleaner and safer technologies for surface preparation. Two laser systems were surveyed for their effectiveness of removing two distinct coating systems. At the onset of this project, neither of these systems had been the subject of DoD-related research. Worker safety assessments were also performed on the systems to elucidate any potential issues which could exist should a shipyard begin employing laser cleaning technologies.
