NSRP ASE Investment: $99K
Objective:
The purpose of this project is to assist the shipbuilding industry in better monitoring a large volume of accident reports, in order to better motivate best practices for accident prevention. The proposed safety monitoring system is based on the methodology of the 2mm program with the goal of prioritizing incident types for timely root-cause investigation so that the most effective hazard controls can be implemented and the largest reductions in safety incidents can be achieved as quickly as possible. Three tools were developed that showed, both qualitatively and quantitatively, how shifting to a real-time accident monitoring system can improve safety and prevent future accidents.
