Ship Design and Construction Training Module (2011-427)

Objective:

Two short course training modules were developed to educate ship design engineers and craft personnel on the causes of distortion, and train them on processes which have been proven to mitigate distortion. The procedures, when followed correctly, have been proven to be successful in minimizing the amount of stable and unstable distortion on thin steel structures. Many of the distortion mitigation process improvements have already been implemented at certain critical work stations throughout Ingalls Shipbuilding.
