Objective:
The purpose of this effort was to compile data and provide an easily accessible, user-friendly application matrix for all currently approved Navy high-solids coatings systems. The guide includes application optimization information, lessons learned and best practices for ship construction and repair. In an effort to aid the shipbuilding and ship repair community in the use and handling of high solids, solvent free, edge retentive coatings, this manual documents the lessons learned and best practices used in shipyards and coating application facilities. This reference guide provides applicators and supervisors with the knowledge required to successfully apply these coatings. The National Surface Treatment Center (NSTC) hosts a password protected site to enable easy access to information contained within this report. As shipyard experience grows, NSTC has agreed to update future install data and lessons learned provided by NSRP member yards. Yards can access the website and insert installation data. NSRP members can obtain a password through www.nstcenter.com or e-mail the center at [email protected].
