ECB Chair Address on NSRP Legacy and Impact Over the Past 50 Years with SNAME T&R Community

Mr. Hamadyk (Newport News Shipbuilding) will share highlights of the nearly 50 year legacy of NSRP, including its genesis, intent, impact, and evolution. The formative and enduring relationship between NSRP and SNAME will be discussed, with some detail regarding common organizational structure and subject matter. Elements of NSRPā€™s truly unique industry collaboration platform will be examined, with some forward-looking thoughts offered on the importance of sustaining not only the NSRP ecosystem, but also the NSRP-SNAME symbiotic relationship. Mr. Hamadyk greatly looks forward to interaction with the viewers!

 

Speaker Name & Bio
Donald M. Hamadyk Director, Research & Development HII – Newport News Shipbuilding

Mr. Hamadyk is currently Director, Research & Development, with responsibility for all NNS R&D and the NNS Washington, D.C. Technical Office. The scope of this assignment includes NNS Independent Research & Development (IRAD), ONR ManTech, and NSRP (National Shipbuilding Research Program) activity. He is currently Chairman of the NSRP Executive Control Board, as well as Chairman of the SNAME Ship Production Committee. He began his shipbuilding career at Newport News in 1981, was a charter member of the SEAWOLF Attack Submarine Design Team, and served as Program Manager for the successful DARPA / Navy TANGO BRAVO External Weapon Launch technology development project. He was a recognized contributor to the 2007 RAND study ā€œSustaining US Nuclear Submarine Design Capabilitiesā€, a former member of the Board of Directors at Commonwealth Center for Advanced Manufacturing (CCAM), and a member of the MIT Professional Summer Review Panel. His educational background includes a Master of Engineering (Ocean Engineering) and Bachelor of Engineering (Engineering Physics) from Stevens Institute of Technology, and the Executive Program Management Course at the Defense Acquisition University. Mr. Hamadyk is a former Chapter President of the Hampton Roads Chapter, Naval Submarine League.
