The workshop will be held at EWI (Columbus, OH) as well as virtually.

The “Robotic Arc Directed Energy Deposition (DED) Additive Manufacturing (AM) for Shipbuilding” NSRP Research Announcement project is concluding this summer. The project team is hosting an end of project workshop titled: Robotic Arc DED AM – Advanced Capabilities Workshop on June 23^rd and 24^th, 2021.

This workshop provides a great opportunity to learn about all the new DED capabilities developed in this NSRP program.  This workshop also provides a great opportunity to learn about the requirements to convert robotic welding systems into DED systems, develop robust build applications, qualify procedures, and implement metal AM technical standard requirements.  The workshop provides a forum to transition these capabilities through ongoing initiatives and services being developed by numerous shipbuilding, Navy, and industry collaborators. Keynote speakers at this event include NAVSEA, Autodesk and the RAMLAB. Panel discussions with participants from NAVSEA, ABS, shipyards participants, and Navus Automation will address metal AM qualification and fabrication requirements, and technical needs for shipbuilding implementation.

This event will be held in person at EWI’s Columbus, OH facility, and presentations will also be offered via webinar.  The workshop will include laboratory project demonstrations which are a must see. For those that cannot attend in person, videos of the demonstrations will be provided, but please join the virtual Q&A session the afternoon of the 24^th for further discussion.
