Overview
Leadership 2010 - Improving Supervision (2009-349)
Project Team:
- Alaska Ship & Drydock
2008
NSRP ASE Investment: $90K
Objective:
This effort adapted the Training Within Industry (TWI) program for use by the shipbuilding and repair industry to realize savings through improved retention, increased productivity and increased first-time quality. Ship affordability is greatly impacted by a shortage of trained, qualified workers, particularly in such areas as the Gulf Coast. The project designed, produced, and evaluated a blended learning (part online, part live) approach to instruction for new supervisors or for upgrade of current supervisors. The project gathered a broad range of instructional and shipbuilding and repair information, related web links, still photographs, video clips, narrative stories of shipyard work and other useful information and assembled them in a section of the www.goships.com web site.
