Project Team:
- Ingalls Shipbuilding
- Vigor Industrial
- Puget Sound Naval Shipyard
2015
NSRP ASE Investment: $150K
Objective:
The overall goal of this project was to identify a Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) electrode that could be used to join HY-100 and HSLA-100 to themselves or each other without under matching strength. This project looked into identifying, establishing, and performing all required testing on a FCAW electrode that would allow for a welding HY-100 and HSLA-100 with matching strength with the intent of presenting the results to the Navy for approval to use this electrode on surface ships.
